Wayne sends this important info - careys research on the EPA lead law

Friends,
My friend Wayne is as incensed as we all are of the power of the EPA. No one is advocating pre-1970 standards but common sense needs to be applied. America is quickly becoming a Stalinist state while countries like China are growing and polluting far more than America is. EPA is suppose to protect the environment. What are they doing snooping around in people's houses trying to save us? Its not about our health, its about control.
Carey Masci
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally.... a Resolution/Bill proposed to cut the power of the EPA. ..be assured.... neither Casey nor Specter signed on to it. In the House version a few PA Reps had the cajones and a lot of Ohio Reps signed on. I do feel we will ...again... fold like a cheap suit and allow them to continue their unelected power position but this is showing even legislators are starting to question the powers of the EPA.
If jobs is what we need.... we need to rein in the EPA to a controlable level. There is a point where it goes too far. Then again, all who know me know of the "love" I have for the EPA, DEP and assorted uncontrolled money pits.
some current event thoughts - some past event thoughts
Toyota has been known for cars that run and run and run. Lately they have really proven that by building cars that do indeed keep on running and running and running, the gas pedal gets stuck. They first blamed car mats and then driver error. DRIVER ERROR? How do you blame people for sticking gas pedals? You got to have extremely fat feet for that to happen. 2.3 million cars will be recalled and 8 car lines will be shut down until a remedy is found. I have a remedy! Buy American.
President Obama has called for a spending freeze for two years. Isn't that like an alcoholic saying he is going to quit drinking for two years?
I really don't know what made me think of this because I really hate the singing of Bruce Springsteen. But I got to thinking of the irony of his concerts he put on for President Obama. The man who sold millions of copies of "Born in the USA" sang for a president that we really don't know if he was born in the USA.
As the title of this email says these are random thoughts. What I find so extremely crazy about the attempted bombing on Christmas day in Detroit is that Detroit has one of the largest Arab/Muslim settlements. So why would these radical Muslims want to bomb an area that they have settled in? Home sweet home.
The recent Supreme Court ruling has struck down some of the provisions of the McCain-Feingold law in the name of free speech. Now corporations and other groups can spend more money prior to an election.
I still don't understand how spending more money equals free speech.
So you are badly in debt. What you bring in is not nearly enough. You probably won't pay off what you owe. You go to the bank and ask to raise your credit limit? What do you think they will say?
Congress is asking to raise the US debt ceiling beyond 12 trillion dollars. Do understand where I am going with this?
Thoughts about Haiti - written 1-15-10
Funny that Evangelist Pat Robertson said what he did as I was going to write something very similar. For those who missed it Pat said (paraphrased) "Haiti's problems stem from the pact they made with the devil." I myself can believe such a thing could happen.
I would like to see the figures of the worst disasters, manmade or natural, and see how many occured in pagan or unGodly cities and/or nations. We know about the many earth quakes in San Francisco, Katrina in New Orleans, Indonesia and the tsumani, NY and 911 and now Haiti. Makes one wonder. And I keep saying the next inline for something major is Vegas.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Haiti has a population of 9 million.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Though Haiti is heavily Catholic, she still holds onto her pagan beliefs. A large percentage still believe in or practice Voodoo right alongside their Christian faith.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Pres. Obama has pledged 100 million dollars towards the relief effort of Haiti, a figure that will be sure to grow over the year.
What should the US do? Do we send them money? Do we just let them be? The country for so many years has been corrupt. What is the right thing to do?
I am not sure but this I do know. President Obama bailed out the auto and bank industry and is demanding payback or heavy taxes and fines. Now the US is about to help another country. I wasn't all for these bailouts but since we did we should be placing the same payback demands on countries that get aid from us.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please understand I am all for donating and if you feel like doing it thats great. But this should be an individuals choice, not the role of the government. Especially when we are TRILLIONS in debt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If I heard correctly this is a figure thats hard to believe. The US has already generated $500 million for Haiti, China $1 million.

Healthcare revisited

Friends,
I am resending sections of my article of when I attended the Health Care Forum and also of my Canadian cousin's letter to me. Its important that I tie the two together. Health care and the internet are two businesses that are still profitable and successful and supplying excellent service. Soon this could change as our government wants to take control of both and it will leave us with inferior services and escalated costs.

Here are the paragraphs of importance concerning health care:

I was not at all pleased with the rhetoric or demeanor from Regional Representative Max. Instead of giving real answers he used the term straw argument a few times,*attacked profits as one of the reasons for spiraling health care costs, and blamed capitalism.
He went on to say it was **people like me who don’t carry health insurance and use the emergency room as primary care.

When I confronted R. Rep. Max afterwards I asked him again about the fine and or jail time, he replied no jail time but there would be some incentive to make you get it.

Points of importance from my Canadian cousin:
.... as well as the fact that our doctors are paid substantially less than doctors in the USA because of our universal healthcare plan, it has caused a *mass exodus of our best doctors....most leaving for greener pastures in the USA.
This has been very bad for us, **as many of us now have to go to clinics or hospital emergency rooms to be seen for whatever ails us....often sitting and waiting for several hours. It also means that at any given appointment, we never know which doctor will be treating us....there may be up to 6 or 7 GP's in a clinic each working different days and times so you never know who you are going to get. Not very comforting for patients.

added notes:
*No one will argue about the cost of health care but do you want to get into a bidding war for the lowest price when it concerns your life? Unless you are in health care and understand the cost of tuition, insurance, licenses and the stress and burnout it may seem extravagant. There has to be a reason why people of great wealth and importance come to the US for health care. Could it be because we do have the best system? If the government does interfere and control cost less will be encouraged to become doctors and our standards and quality will decrease. IF they really want to control cost then they have to look at tort reform.

**It's amazing that Regional Rep. Max Blachman tried to blame me and people like me for the high cost of health care and yet the Democratic/Obama plan will not ease the situation of people using the emergency room as primary care but the exact opposite will occur, sending MORE people there.

Something else I still don't understand and never will. This proposal is suppose to help those who can't afford health care and insurance. The Democratic/Obama plan calls for mandatory insurance with heavy fines if you don't carry it. There are many in that gray where they make to much for government help but not enough to afford health insurance. If someone can't afford insurance how are they going to pay the heavy fines? Does this make sense? How is this helping?

If you would like to voice your opinion to Regional Representative Max Blachman he can be reached at Max_Blachman@brown.senate.gov.

Or you can contact Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown at 1-888-896-6446 or www.brown.senate.gov

If something is working and the government gets involved it will break it, and if it is broken already, the government will only make it worse. CKM

Canada's health care

Friends,
Here is an unedited email from my Canadian cousin born and raised there. I had contacted her to hear exactly her thoughts on socialized medicine. When I spoke out at the health care forum I was right on. Read it for yourself. And as usual, don't sit on this, forward it on to enlighten people.
Carey
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Hi Carey,
As far as Canada's Universal Health Care System goes......for many years it worked very well. However, as time went by, people, unfortunately began to take advantage of the fact that health care and the medical visits were free. People were going into medical clinics for a paper cut on their finger.....or they would take an appointment just to have their blood pressure checked. Clearly, the doctors were at fault here as well because they would swipe the medicare card of these "patients" thereby charging the government a fee for their very unecessary visit. This, as well as the fact that our doctors are paid substantially less than doctors in the USA because of our universal healthcare plan has caused a mass exodus of our best doctors....most leaving for greener pastures in the USA.
This has been very bad for us, as many of us now have to go to clinics or hospital emergency rooms to be seen for whatever ails us....often sitting and waiting for several hours. It also means that at any given appointment, we never know which doctor will be treating us....there may be up to 6 or 7 GP's in a clinic each working different days and times so you never know who you are going to get. Not very comforting for patients.
The idea of Universal Health Care is a good one ....but with limits. Somewhere between Canada's and France's health care systems is the perfect plan. The USA is a great country and the government should be able to come up with a plan that takes care of it's citizens. Maybe a plan that is comiserate with a family's income level.
Whatever plan the USA decides on...I hope it will be a fair and equitable one for all your citizens.
Let me know your thoughts on this...I would love to see what you wrote.
Take care,
Darlene
