America News and Views news letter - FURTHERMORE

Host Bob Murphy and Carey Masci were manning the mics on August 18Th as co-host Dale Fellows was up north in Canada and prominent lake county attorney Geoff Weaver could not make it.
While Dale was fishing Bob wasted little time before wading into the murky waters of whats going on locally and nationally, so many issues, so many problems, so much to talk about.

Furthermore....

Bob asked Carey what is going on with Euclid you have a problem with them. Carey said Bill O Reily gave a short description of socialism, its when government takes over commerce and property. This is in parallel with the horrible housing policies of Euclid. Socialist policies that make it extremely difficult to sell houses in Euclid. Realtors have been asking Euclid to please ease up.

A new proposal being looked at is even worse then the current rules in place. It has landlords taking classes with the Euclid Police and housing department and EPD maintains contact info. This is not only big government which we are fighting against, this is HUGE government.

Euclid is trying to change results without changing the cause that made the result. Bob understands and says it stems from inept leaders, NO vision. What needs to be done is repealing of the mandatory house inspections which are unconstitutional and put in place a system that is based on laws being violated. If a house is deemed unsafe from the outside or repeated calls to the police or housing dept from neighbors, then you have probable cause to enter.

Bob also made comments on how they have destroyed the real estate market by micromanaging. Its all grinding down, the government has a strangle hold on free enterprise which ties in with Obama.

How did Obama get elected? By anti-American sentiment. People no longer want to work, they want their entitlements, they want the government to take care of them. All anti-American thinking. Bob feels that at least 35% of people living in America are anti American. What this country needs is a strong pro-American leader, someone who makes you feel proud and patriotic.

Carey explained what the straw poll in Iowa showed. The results showed that its not the economy stupid its the morals. Three of the top four spots were won by moral Christian Conservative Candidates and the one that doesn't waiver the most in his message is Rick Santorum. If you want this country to turn around you need a strong moral person as president.

It was an informative 30 minutes that challenged the voting public to get involved. It's up to us to change things.

I don't bash just to bash, I do it to make a point, I do it to inform and educate, I do it because I love this country. I still believe America is the beacon of light to the world. Its up to us to make sure it continually shines.
Your Friend,

Bob Murphy.

Another email I received concerning the shooting in Arizona

Another email I received concerning the shooting in Arizona.

This one came from a friend who forwarded a posting from her friend of what he had on his Face Book page. In so many words it blames people like Glen Beck for the shooters rampage.
He wrote:

The most succinct comparison I have heard on the matter is that the flu bug takes out the weak people first. When you create a climate of violent talk, when you fill the airwaves with chatter about "enemies of the state" and "second amendment solutions," the sane people among us will take it for what it is: entertainment at best, vote-grabbing nonsense at worst. But it should come as no surprise when some nutjob hears it as a call to action and acts accordingly.

I presume that Glenn Beck will come on the radio and TV tomorrow and will state that he does not condone violence of any sort. Maybe he'll even cry a little. But then he'll launch right back into his moneymaking talk that some lone nut out there will see as a call to action. I'm sorry, but the man has blood on his hands.

Don't get me wrong: there are just as many nutjobs on the fringes of the left as there are on the fringes of the right. For every AR-15 toting Tea Bagger who takes the Gadsden Flag just a little too far, there’s an owl-loving, bomb-making Weatherman type on the left. But Glenn Beck's speaking to the ones on the right, and any action that they take in response to his callings is readably foreseeable.

At the end of the day, the only ones out there who can bring about a cessation to Glenn Beck’s violent rants are his fans. If his followers would simply tell him to take a chill pill, and tone it down a few notches, we’d all be better for it. A little more panic to help Goldline's sales and a little less coded calls for violent action.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This man must live in a bubble, a warm and fuzzy bubble.
What I try to tell these people over and over again without success is what does Glenn Beck or others like him have to do with the erosion of freedoms America is facing? They are just the messengers.
Is Glenn Beck, Rush, Sarah Palin, and others like them, responsible for the devaluing of our dollar? Run away debt? Inflation? Joblessness? People losing their homes?
Or what about other issues such as failing to protect our boarders and yet we as citizens have to get passports? The removal of crosses even at sites that honor vets? Forcing the homosexual lifestyle upon us? Mandatory house inspections such as in Euclid where they issue warrants if you do not allow them?
Or how about something like the freeway walls that are making people feel trapped and boxed in?
I could go on and on with serious issues facing America that are giving people the sense of hopelessness. Did Glenn Beck or the others create any of these? Of course not.
Maybe I am wrong, but to me Glenn Beck is an opportunist. He reminds me of the fake healing Evangelists who didn't live the lifestyle or believe in God as they preached. Did people get healed and saved at these revivals? Yes, but it was the words of the message not the messenger who did the work.
Is Glenns message right on? YES! Does he speak the truth about the consequences America is facing if we don't change our ways? YES!
But all Glenn Beck is is just a mouth piece for the people. You can shut him up but Americas problems won't go away and people will still be on the verge of revolt or they will take matters into their own hands and do senseless things. That's what hopelessness breeds, the messengers.... they just tell it like it is.
I added to the original posting:
Can it be, nahhh it can't be, not in Cuyahoga County, there can't be anymore hanky panky going on.
Sad! Third world politics are going on here. But really you can blame the voters, the same ones who put criminal slick back in, charlie wrangler and yes the Cleveland shake down artists.
This happened Monday morning:
There will be a meeting of the Cuyahoga County Council-elect tomorrow morning at 8:00 am at the Cleveland State University Levin College of Urban Affairs building in the Bonda room on the second floor. One very significant topic of discussion will likely be the very recent action of a limited number of Democratic members-elect who met in private and at a member's house to select who they wanted to have as their President of Council. If you believe as I do, then you are probably appalled at this display of "corrupt politics as usual" for Cuyahoga county. If you are available to attend this meeting, it would be valuable to have a presence at this meeting to express dissatisfaction at this kind of behavior.
Geoff Rapp
Organizer of the Westlake 9.12 Project
State of Ohio Coordinator, The 9.12 Project
Today my friend Joe sent me his rant about politics as usual in Cleveland.
According to the Plain Dealer and the web, this new county council that was just elected took it upon themselves and held a secret meeting . The meeting was attended by Democrats, that were elected by the people to represent Cuyahoga County to nominate a likely president. I am outraged this new form of government was supposed to bring a new way of doing things, instead we have new faces and the same old mentality going on. Why could not these people wait for the public meeting to occur and air out their problems or issues? No, instead they held a private meeting in the hopes of circumventing the natural process and avoid the transparency that the public was promised when this system was first promoted to us..
We were promise no more closed door deals. These people are acting like the current Euclid Mayor, and doing business in the same manner that he is.
I am glad that I am more of a Populist Democrat vs just a Democrat. I am ashamed at what has recently transpired with this new board. The bonds of promised trust have been compromised ,and now we the people need to be very vigilant of what is happening in the county level.
I wish that the public at large would have voted in more Independents, Republicans, and non political agenda people than what they did. The selection of a leader should have happened during the general assembly meeting, not inside someones home with only a handful of people to the the decision.
Next thing you maybe will see is more of the political favoritism going around that occurred with Dimora and Russo leadership.Or maybe yet this group will take it upon themselves to drop all charges against the guilty.
I ask that all good and decent citizens in Cuyahoga County call, write to, or even write to the newspaper and demand that this highly controversial meeting be rescinded and allow the natural procedures to take place in a public forum.
Both Connally and Miller have done tons of damage that can never be forgiven.
News from Euclid
Hey Gang,
An IM from a friend:
hey Carey I ran into former Euclid Mayor candidate Chris Litinowitcz. He needs money to fix a flat he is going to start pan handling innocent citizens for the cash. Which is highly illegal in Euclid.
Rich called and asked did you listen to the Mike Trivisonno Show? A caller was complaining about Euclid and their new trash fee. This caller said his house has been empty 2 years so he called Euclid City Hall and complained why should he pay the trash pick up fee when he doesn't put out any garbage? Euclid agreed so they reduced his fee by 50%.
Crazy days indeed.
I was at my friend Bruce's garage sale in Mentor on Saturday. I had the health care petition with me. I asked a man if he would sign it. He said NOPE, it doesn't matter, even if you get your amendment passed they (politicians) will still do what they want. Take Euclid, I use to live there. We voted against that housing development and they still went ahead with it.
At Dollar General the cashier, an older gentleman, was talking to a customer about how Euclid imposed a trash fee and ready for this he told her, a street light fee! I had to chime in and said I know, I keep saying it, white flight is only part of Euclid's problem. He said I agree, they have high taxes, low services, they are killing the city. I bought my parents house because I love the area but now I am stuck.
Hmmm another white man not bothered by blacks moving in. Just had to make sure you got the point.
And the beat down goes on......
CKM
What does Dave Macko have to say about housing inspections and regulations?
No city, county, township or other local jurisdiction shall prohibit the owner of any property from letting anyone he wishes live in such property. Any other position is communism, the abolition of private property in land.
Likewise, all property taxes should be repealed and outlawed. Zoning should be phased out, with restrictive covenants reestablished to prevent disorder.
Are the tea parties biblical? WELW 1330 am THE BREAKDOWN WITH MIKE AND JOSH
Friends,
I was involved in an challenging debate following last Saturdays airing of Break Down Radio. A listener of the show said he didn't want to upset me but felt I was doing wrong by fighting Euclid because the Bible says to submit to authority.
This led to a back and forth that had no end in sight. The other questions raised in our discussion were:
What is our role as Christians in government?
What does it mean to submit to authority?
Do we just go along or fight back as I am doing?
If the state is forcing us to disobey God's commandments and/or principals then should we submit to government?
And - Are the tea parties biblical?
This Saturday March 13th at 2 pm EST tune in to WELW 1330 am when Mike & Josh Breakdown these questions with Pastor Cohen and Carey.
For those out of the listening area log on the computer and chat with us or send a question or comment.
Carey's Official Announcement
Hey Gang,
Some of you know this already but this is the official announcement, I am now on the radio, another oportunity I am relishing in.
The show is BREAKDOWN RADIO with Mike (Gutierrez) and Josh (Guzik), and every other week Mike Pelsozy comes on with local news and political updates. It airs every Saturday from 2 to 3 pm on WELW 1330 am.
I have been asked before to come on radio shows, the first time by Bishop Davis way back, but each time turned it down from fright. Not wanting to let another opportunity pass I pushed myself into going.
The first visit I was so nervous. Mike asked did I want to speak and I quickly said OH NO, let me sit and watch. The second time I showed up I was thinking to myself I can do this, no one can see me, what's to worry. And then Mike makes the announcement "And for those of you with a computer you can watch us online." I was just gathering my confidence and then I had to hear that. The first three shows all I said were a few sentences and thats it.
For those of you who have never done something like this its very intimidating and not as easy as it looks. It takes timing and quick thinking. Watching from the sidelines and doing it are completely different. Mike and Josh have very good chemistry and they keep the current flowing. Mike kept telling me you want to say something just jump in. When I did have a thought and tried to get it out they had already moved on.
The show is Christian/Conservative talk and has four things going for it, random topics, its lively, informative, and slightly controversial. Someone called and said we were an embarrassment to the Republican party. It was either a Democratic plant or a Republican who was stunned by the forthright honesty. We don't favor anyone.
Mike Gutierez, besides having a terrific radio voice, is extremely gifted and quite natural behind the mic as he is also in person giving speeches. He has the knack of continuing to speak while thinking of the next topic or thought. He never pauses or says ummm or ahhh as so many do. Mike can be talking about politics and then slide right into talking about God without you even realizing the transition. Josh Guzic is equally as quick witted with his added comments and thoughts. As for Mike Pelsozy he is in your face and animated. He gives you your medicine whether you like it or not.
As for myself, I don't know how long this stint will be but even if I just sit in and give an occasional absolutely or amen I am enjoying it.
I know I am still very green but kind of embarrassed that I haven't shaken the nerves completely and still stumble. Mike has pitched a few softballs to me and I don't feel I capitalized enough. February 6 Mike did a review of my take on the state of the union address and tried to plug my writings. When asked where they can be read I couldn't remember my own blog and I didn't even think of plugging the GoGo Bus site.
And last week I had a super opportunity to really expose Euclid when Mike got to talking about Cleveland being the most miserable city. I cut in with what Euclid is doing to me. I got to wound up, to nervous and don't think I bridged the topics enough. I did mange to get some thoughts out and the person manning the sound board cut in and said he knows all to well what Euclid is doing.
Give the show a listen. I may not say to much as I am still learning but most importantly its another wonderful experience that I can say HEY I DID IT!
Carey's political humor for February 2010
What does Toyota and Obama have in common?
There's no stopping a Toyota and theres no stopping Obama from spending.
Due to extreme cold and snow, EGore announced his calculations were off.
Global warming doesn't start until next year.
Washington DC has received so much snow that the government shutdown.
Finally Congress can experience what they have given us for years... a snow job.
Sarah Palin got caught with a cheat sheet written on her hand.
But nobody bothered to check Senator John Edward's hand for girls phone numbers.
Really though whats the big deal? Sarah had a few words scribbled on her hand and Obama
uses a TelePrompTer. Tell me whats the difference?
The city of Euclid announced it will charge residents a street light fee. I say shut them off.
Lets light candles and hold a vigil.
Euclid also wants to charge residents a trash fee. I am against that also.
We need the trash to burn for heat since we can't afford utilities because of taxes and fees.
Euclid could become known as the city of drive-bys. They want to instal traffic cameras
to raise revenue. If they do instead of driving through Euclid people will just... drive by.
A Careyism - photos of the dead mall, Euclid Square
Hey Gang,
I don't know what else to call it a Careyism, a coincidence but these things always always
happen to me. Maybe I should play the lottery.
Yesterday my niece Crystal sent me a You Tube clip titled Euclid Square Mall (the dead
mall). I sent it
to some of you. The clip is very eery. A mall that was so alive filled with
shoppers, so vibrant with trend setting shops, elegant fountains, mall shows and now is
mostly abandoned with the surrounding stores also boarded up.
Well Friday I was looking for an auction to attend to pick up some gifts for the holidays.
The auction I had in mind was Hamilton's of Ashtabula because they sell newer merchandise
from buyouts of stores. I did an online search and the first listing that came up for
Hamilton's was an auction being held right here in Euclid at, yes you guessed it,
Euclid Square Mall.
I brought along my camera in hopes that I could snap some photos. I am glad I did.
The mall is virtually shut down. Dillards outlet that once was Dillards and before that was
Higbees, an upscale department store exclusive to Cleveland till the
late 80's
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higbee's) was one of two anchor stores for Euclid Square
Mall, is still in business along with eleven churches. Thats it besides the auction that
opened six months ago.
Such a strange feeling to be inside a place that I use to hang out as a teenager now
all desolate and quiet. Maybe the 11 churches can start a revival.
Gotta GoGo!
prayer request, censorship and the liberal take over of another newspaper
I received the email below from Dawn Slike who feels that her article placed in the section Another Viewpoint in the Lake County News Herald led to the dismissal of Curt Olson the primary editor. Dawn I agree with you, I believe it is for that reason.
I won't and can't mention names but a part time writer for the News Herald told me of another writer leaving because the paper became to liberal and it was hard to do his job fairly.
I had an issue with the News Herald back in 2008 when they refused to publish my Letter to the Editor stating if they did they would have to give equal time to the other side. I always thought in those sections of the paper it was an open forum free from censorship. It would be different if they came and interviewed me maybe then they would have to give equal time. But if someone writes in freely with no coercion or pay and no one from the opposite sides does should a newspaper refuse to print their story?
And more recently concerning my battle with Euclid I most of sent at least 40 letters and emails combined with not one making it to print or the News Herald sending a reporter to investigate my story. Now I am beginning to understand what Curt was up against.
Please keep Curt in your prayers as Dawn requests and also our nation because more and more our freedom of speech is being eroded to nothing.
CKM
From Dawn Slike
Dear Friends and Allies,
On behalf of Curt Olson and his family, wife Lynette, two young children and an elderly family member residing with them, I am asking you all for prayers.
Mr. Olson has been fired from The News-Herald, on October 19. He had been in the paper's employ since 1996, and had in recent years served as the paper's editorial page primary editor.
This dismissal occurred exactly five days after the publication (Oct. 14) of my Another Viewpoint, which challenged Family Planning Association of NE Ohio to become a full time prenatal clinic and also exposed them as abortion-pushing "counselors" based on personal testimonies from their former clients. Two days after the publication of this commentary, FPANEO closed on Friday and Saturday, directing people to return for "services" on Monday. It is rare for FPANEO to close on normal business days.
I do not know if there is a connection between my commentary and Mr. Olson's release from the newspaper's staff. I do know I personally find it suspicious.
Mr. Olson will need employment to support his family, so we are calling for prayers that:
Suitable, sufficient God-honoring (truth respecting) employment comes to him
The family is well supported by their community in the interim
The family stays hopeful and prayerful while God moves forward in their lives
God bless you all. God bless every one of us.
- Dawn
If you wish to send a note of support to Mr. Olson, send me an email and I will forward it to him.
This That and the Other Thing
Down & Up
House values down, all other prices going up! Enough said on that.
Values down but....
Though house values have fallen it states in the new valuation - This may not reflect a savings in tax. Enough said on that also.
Meet interesting people
A friend sent an email with a link to a neighborhood watch map by Family Watchdog. The map shows people with criminal records and sex offenders who are living in your neighborhood. Who was one of the site sponsors? Cupid. Their slogan - meet interesting people. I say so.
No more talking
Dad and I frequently talk politics and all the wrong that is existing. I said dad when I tell you one of the provisions in the immigration reform bill then you will realize there is no reason to try and make sense out of anything, not Euclid, nothing. In the bill is written permanent temporary visas. Thats impossible. Leave it to the Dems to think of that one.
End of recession
Ben Bernanke Chairman of the Federal Reserve said a couple of weeks ago that the worse recession since the 30's is over but that doesn't mean job loss won't continue to rise. Makes as much sense as permanent temporary visas
Poor Chicago
Chicago didnt get the olympics. I guess President Obama didn't make a strong enough pitch that drive by shootings, dodge the bullet and hide the money envelop qualifies the city.
Run and Shoot
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been looking for a player that can run and shoot. They found a player with those credentials in Delonte West. Unfortunately for the Cavs West is doing it off the court and not on.
Carey's rental problems with the city of Euclid, Ohio
Friends,
Please read this and send it on to all your contacts, post it on your blogs, help me get this out as it will benefit you also. I don't particularly care for how it is written as I had little time to edit and change the tone but it is still vitally important to get this out there. Let me explain what is going on.
I received a letter from the city of Euclid, Ohio concerning the two rentals I own. I was completely shocked when I read it. The letter was written on May second, received on May third and their terms were to be met by May sixteenth.
What Euclid wants is $200.00 each property for the initial registration and a renewal fee of $75.00 per year with required annual inspections. How many of you have $400.00 at your disposal to hand out to the city?
I am just infuriated with the city of Euclid at their audacity to make such demands with such a short notice. This is nothing more than them wanting more money to spend as they see fit. You can not justify this request. I pay property tax and income tax and now another fee? All cities, even the council man I met with agreed, have drive by inspections. If a property looks neglected from the outside the property owner can be cited and an inspection may be issued. Not only is annual inspections an invasion of my renters privacy but it gets worse. They also demand social security numbers of my tenants. Friends we need to start fighting back at this kind of bureaucracy. First its rental units then it will be home owners with a fee called a residency permit to be allowed to live in your house.
What is the penalty if I don't meet these demands? A fine of up to $1,000.00 and up to 6 months imprisonment. For what? Its my houses what crime have I committed?
Please read and pass on I am hoping this will get into the right hands and a large case will be brought against this city. And if you have caved in to similar demands shame on you!
Below is the letter I sent to the mayor of Euclid and please also open the enclosed document to read what they sent.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Mayor Cervenik,
This letter is in conclusion to our conversation we had on Monday May 12Th at 4PM.
First I would like to thank you for your prompt call and also for taking the time to look at my properties. As for our conversation I was disappointed that I did not make the most of the opportunity I had. You had made your point and steam rolled right over my situation that still exists, lack of money. Your statements of "we could charge you $800.00" and "pay they don't play games" is not what I expected.
This position I find myself in is new to me. My credit rating is very high and I have always paid my bills on time. I don't believe its impossible to make an exception to help someone who has invested in the city. Someone is in a bind the city should do more than just threaten them with a huge fine and jail time. What is Euclid trying to accomplish if someone doesn't have the money? Force them to sell or go bankrupt? Its a real shame that someone who is self employed running a small business decides to invest in his future by buying houses and the city demands more money above property tax and income tax. As you said according to law you are in your right to do so, but does this still make it right?
This policy should be revisited. There is 10 empty houses on Priday Ave alone. The city of Euclid should be doing all they can to encourage investment. If I would of known of the added rental fee's I would not of purchased my houses here. There is plenty of others who feel the same way. I don't anticipate my situation staying the same. My plans for the future are to buy two more houses. Knowing what I now know unless Euclid changes its policy my next two houses won't be in Euclid.
Think of what I could do with that $400.00 the city is demanding. Make a few necessary improvements, even if its one window or pay for my house insurance just to name a few things. Instead the city takes it.
Your solution of raising the rent is not how I do business. By keeping the rent low I had secured a good tenant for over 9 years that gave me no problems. The government whether local, state or federal can't keep taxing and adding fees then tell the public raise your prices. This is driving down the value of the dollar even further. Is anyone ever ahead with this game?
As for the current situation things have changed. The tenant living in Priday will be leaving in July. He has given me his notice. So I will not register it as a rental. I have about 2 months to decide if I will keep it or sell it. I am pretty sure of one thing as of now it won't be a rental.
You weren't willing to try and help with rental fees but maybe Euclid could help pay my house insurance. I am enclosing it so you know I wasn't playing games. Again its a real shame living in America someone falls on hard times is barely making it and the city government can take it all away.
