 WE ARE NO LONGER THE LAND OF THE FREE, duh Carey!

Blacks get blamed all the time for Euclid's downfall; black crime is a problem but only a tiny part of the once great city of superior services real issue.

Socialism/ communist light is the reason for jobs fleeing and no money.

I took this photo of the two stands at the housing department window.

They are filled with permits; this is only a partial list of what is needed to live and breathe in Euclid.

Currently, they are making it extremely difficult for me to sell my house.

They interfere at every turn with you trying to do commerce with another individual or maintain your property as you see best.

Many give up and instead do nothing or flee the city.

In the meantime, let's blame Blacks, far easier than facing the real menace.

These aren't just laws to improve life. These are government-created jobs, and the people enforcing them aren't improving the city. They are protecting their job and trying to prove their worth by manhandling you.

 If you want to see how America has shifted towards socialism, visit McDonald's.

The old McDonald's was fun, had bold colors, was inviting, had a clown Ronald McDonald as a mascot recognized worldwide, was family-oriented, had good food that was affordable, and was part of the landscape of America.

The new McDonald's is drab, boring, gray, and cold inside, with nothing fun or exciting with overpriced average at best food.

Maybe they should re-brand it as McBiden's.

BMV

 I just got back from the Wickliffe BMV.

 Not sure if all BMV's look like a third-world socialist country government office but Wickliffe's sure does.

 Bland-colored walls, stained carpet, cheap mixed chairs lining the walls, orders being barked out by a computer with a number being announced first then a name, if no one answers or jumps up immediately, a person then yells a name and dictates where to stand at what window.

No one is smiling, and people dressed sloppy, hair uncombed, everyone with a dour look on their face not wanting to be there because of the needlessly high expense of having to reregister your car every year.

Socialism is wonderful. Quality of life suffers, and the price to suffer gets greater every day.

FURTHERMORE - The news letter of America News and Views March 15

Lets jump right into this weeks news letter.

We have to be careful and better educated if we are to win over Democrats and Liberals. We need to research, learn history and quit running on emotions.

Many of us are very against Obama and his policies and no matter what he does or says he is automatically wrong but what would you say if I said Obama could be right on a few issues, maybe more?

For instance when Obama said drilling for oil won't help (lower the price of gas) most of us thought he was nuts. But guess what, he may be right.

The US currently has a record number of drills working, either for oil or the recent discoveries of natural gas (LNG). The companies drilling for oil are in trouble because of the recent finds has driven the price down. In steps China. China needs oil and LNG. And guess what? They have the money to buy buy buy and are willing to pay more. So if you are a US energy company where prices have fallen flat and you have another country willing to pay more what would you do?

If China does start purchasing from the US that will make China compete against us for our own natural resource and prices will go UP. In Texas China has invested billions and formed a partnership with Chesapeake Energy Corp and they own one of a third stake in another US company Devon Energy.

So you can drill for oil all you want but that won't lower the price not when China is willing to pay and invest.

Obama part 2.
The recent Arizona immigration bill was deemed unconstitutional by the Obama administration. Again the people were up in arms. But was Obama right?

According to a book I am reading American Government In 1921 by Frank Magruder Ph. D. c. 1921 it says on page 210:

In 1914 Arizona provided that any company or individual that employs more than 5 persons must employ not less than 80% qualified voters or native born citizens of the US. This law was declared unconstitutional because of its enforcement would have discriminated against aliens and thus would have deprived them of the equal protection of the State's laws.

YES I understand today’s immigration law from Arizona is different and maybe the key word is illegal alien rather than just alien (or are they the same?) but there are precedents and these previous rulings that were declared unconstitutional towards aliens which we did nothing about has set the stage for our current problems that have opened the floodgates.

So technically Obama has been right. But where Obama has failed as president is he should try to correct injustices and protect the American people but right now he is doing neither.

The rumor mill keeps on spinning about Mitt Romney and Ron Paul's collaboration to get Rand Paul picked as Mitt's VP if he does grab the nomination.

I am hoping this is in fact just a rumor as in a few years I would love to see Rand Paul run for president and being a patsy for Mitt will not help his stature. He would then be known as Mitt's Sarah Palin when Mitt loses to Obama. Not even a Rand Paul or Marco Rubio will save the Mitt ship from sinking in November just like Palin couldn't save McCain.

Santorum could lose big in November. YES here is why, if by some miracle Santorum does pull off the upset and beats the chosen one Mitt the establishment would not be happy their man lost. They could play politics and not back Santorum. We have seen this game many times on the local and state level. Stay wise to this as you will have to work extra hard to get Santorum elected over Obama, that's if Santorum wins the nomination over the chosen one.

Here's my short commentary for this week, short and to the point.

America is a great country. We were the envy of the world. I just don't understand this philosphy of social engineering and the push towards globalization. Trading with world partners for goods is one thing but to make us all equal is another thing. We should never have to lower our standards to be equal they should have to raise theirs. And that's what socialism and one world government does, it makes everyone equal at a lower level not better.

America News and Views news letter - FURTHERMORE

Host Bob Murphy and Carey Masci were manning the mics on August 18Th as co-host Dale Fellows was up north in Canada and prominent lake county attorney Geoff Weaver could not make it.
While Dale was fishing Bob wasted little time before wading into the murky waters of whats going on locally and nationally, so many issues, so many problems, so much to talk about.

Furthermore....

Bob asked Carey what is going on with Euclid you have a problem with them. Carey said Bill O Reily gave a short description of socialism, its when government takes over commerce and property. This is in parallel with the horrible housing policies of Euclid. Socialist policies that make it extremely difficult to sell houses in Euclid. Realtors have been asking Euclid to please ease up.

A new proposal being looked at is even worse then the current rules in place. It has landlords taking classes with the Euclid Police and housing department and EPD maintains contact info. This is not only big government which we are fighting against, this is HUGE government.

Euclid is trying to change results without changing the cause that made the result. Bob understands and says it stems from inept leaders, NO vision. What needs to be done is repealing of the mandatory house inspections which are unconstitutional and put in place a system that is based on laws being violated. If a house is deemed unsafe from the outside or repeated calls to the police or housing dept from neighbors, then you have probable cause to enter.

Bob also made comments on how they have destroyed the real estate market by micromanaging. Its all grinding down, the government has a strangle hold on free enterprise which ties in with Obama.

How did Obama get elected? By anti-American sentiment. People no longer want to work, they want their entitlements, they want the government to take care of them. All anti-American thinking. Bob feels that at least 35% of people living in America are anti American. What this country needs is a strong pro-American leader, someone who makes you feel proud and patriotic.

Carey explained what the straw poll in Iowa showed. The results showed that its not the economy stupid its the morals. Three of the top four spots were won by moral Christian Conservative Candidates and the one that doesn't waiver the most in his message is Rick Santorum. If you want this country to turn around you need a strong moral person as president.

It was an informative 30 minutes that challenged the voting public to get involved. It's up to us to change things.

I don't bash just to bash, I do it to make a point, I do it to inform and educate, I do it because I love this country. I still believe America is the beacon of light to the world. Its up to us to make sure it continually shines.

This is whats wrong with America

Read this and then I will comment.
 Sean Walter, an attorney and first-term town supervisor in Riverhead, N.Y., insists he is a staunch defender of privacy rights and the Fourth Amendment, which protects against unreasonable search and seizure.

 But Walter supported using Google Earth images to help identify about 250 Riverhead homes where residents failed to get building permits certifying their swimming pools complied with safety regulations. All but about 10 eventually came to town hall.

 Walter said the focus was safety, not filling town coffers with permit money, which averaged about $150 depending on the size of the pool. A 4-foot fence is required, gates have to be self-closing and padlocked. All pools must have an alarm that sounds when sensors are activated indicating someone is in the pool.

 "We have a town employee who is a personal friend of mine whose son was found face-down in a swimming pool," Walter said. "He's OK, but I don't want to be the supervisor that attends the funeral of a child that drowns in a swimming pool."


OK do you see where I am going with this? Let me hi-lite key sentences:

  Sean Walter's thinking is whats wrong with America.  He insists he is a staunch defender of privacy rights but then goes after residents who failed to get building permits. Building permits are in almost ALL cases anti-freedom, anti-American and non Constitutional.  Building permits was really one of the first steps towards socializing America.

 I want to know where and how this started that we need the government protecting our every move from injury or death? That is NOT the role of the government. IF a pool is in someones yard, that's their responsibility to watch and police it. And if a neighbors child wanders over to it, its the neighbors fault. Why do we need the government watching us?

  I grew up with a neighbor 2 houses down with a large above ground pool. I wanted so bad to sneak over there many times but I knew it was off limits or I would face hell from him and my parents. No alarms, no inspections, he installed a pool and we got warned. End of story.

 Wake up people, this attorney generated permit money for the city and possibly was just using the label protector of privacy rights for self gain. Either way its an oxymoron no matter how you look at it.

  The Federal government is trying to stop Arizona from enforcing the law concerning illegals. The more the Feds drag this out, the Obama administration will be quietly working in the background on granting amnesty. And you know what that means?

The picture is getting clearer to me and I see the Democrats winning in November. No someone didn't slip a mickey in my coffee.

This is like a chess match and the Dems moved pieces in to play right under our nose that almost puts us in checkmate. In the wee hours of Sunday morning I sent out an email titled Healthcare from Hell - America is at war inside the US. Hate to blow my own horn but little did I know how perfect the timing and right on I was.

In that email I lined up the facts of far greater importance than health care was the issue of illegal aliens and the war on the Texas boarder. Well some of you may not even be aware because most of us were consumed with the health care bill and almost all news stations were covering it but there was a quick blip about another rally going on in Washington DC Sunday. A rally of thousands of illegal immigrants demanding rights and amnesty. And then it came together. The reason so many Dems voted for the health care bill is because they have nothing to fear, they have troops in reserve. Illegal aliens!!!

Brilliant timing for who ever organized the rally for amnesty. Do you see where I am going with this? Obama's next huge undertaking that will be pushed through is - amnesty. And once the illegals are given citizenship, they will register as Democrats and those votes will keep Obama and the rest of the Socialists in power. Brilliant strategy. Right out of the Clinton playbook.

For those who may not remember Slick Willy and Gore tampered with the naturalization process and was lax with many of the INS rules. This was to help President Clinton in the November election. That administration as well as the current one will do anything for self gain and to push this country into full blown socialism. And as it happened in '96 where criminals and others who should never been allowed to stay were granted citizenship it will happen again. History does repeat itself and I am sad to say sooner then I thought.

Look out for this next battle, amnesty. If we don't stop it, Obama will go unchecked for two full terms with Dems in control and then its lights out America.

health care brought to you by big government

I was just watching cable news and the CEO of Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Delos Cosgrove, was being asked by reporter Shapiro his thoughts on the health care bill.
Three points stuck out, cost, disease control and hospitals will have to share.

The CEO said how will health care be paid we are not sure, this administration is not even sure. What a marvelous plan!

Disease control such as smoking and obesity will have to be addressed. Are we ready for more social police telling you what to do, eat and behave?

And sharing amongst hospitals to afford this big bill. In other words maybe in time one hospital system which means of course less choice and in the end inferior service. You get what we got and thats it.
You wanted socialism, well its cometh!





GC: A lot of people watching the health-care debate are thinking that they're going to see their costs stop rising.

The total bill for health care for the country is going to continue to go up. Individual costs may come down in terms of what people pay for insurance, but they're going to pay for it in a different way -- in taxes, one way or another.


GC: President Obama has to some extent demonized the insurance companies. What's their proper role in the system?

We're going to have to have some form of insurance, whether it's run by the government or run privately. Insurance runs on the basis that everybody contributes, whether you're sick or not, and it's there for you when you are sick, and the people who are well help support the people who are not. We're going to have to have some sort of pooling of financial support.

Most countries have a two-part system: They have a government program, and on top of that they have the ability to have private insurance. I hate to think that we're going to have a two-tiered system in the U.S., but we may well. (The reason a lot of people opt for a two-tiered system is because in most cases what the government provides fails so you need a back up plan- CKM)

From an EPA worker: home owners, contractors and real estate - careys research on the EPA lead law

  I am continuing on about the EPA law concerning pre-1978 homes.  It is vital that I do.

   Its one thing to have liberties and freedoms taken away out side of home, you can always retreat to your house, after all a mans home is his castle - right?  But more and more property and homeowner rights have come under attack.  Once this basic right is gone where does a person go?  

  I have been pounding away at educating people of the Fourth Amendment for 2 years since Euclid came after me concerning the rental houses I own.  I warned you back then what next a residency permit to live in your own house?  Well wake up, it can't be that far off if we don't do something now to protect property rights.

  Read below what a friend sent me.  She emailed my rant about the replacement windows to her cousin who works for the EPA.  This is her cousins reply.  I will comment in a follow up email plus I have more info from Wayne and what he is trying to do do repeal the lead law.

I work for Ohio EPA, not U.S. EPA, but this is true for the most part.  You actually don't have to have a certified installer, but if you don't use one, it could hurt you later when you try to sell your home.  The issue isn't the window, it's the lead paint that was used until 1978.  Lead is a very hazardous substance and causes mental and neurological problems in chlidren.  Many children have been poisoned over the years from exposure to lead paint in older homes and apartments.

Frankly, I personally wouldn't do much renovation work on a home that might contain lead paint.  I offered to paint the out buildings on grandpa's farm last year.  The new people moving in want the buildings scraped and painted. I told mom I wouldn't go near scraping those buildings and they should hire a pro company because I'm sure there is lead-based exterior paint underneath the outer layer of paint.

Feel free to forward this to your friend. He should be able to buy the windows and install them himself, especially if he is going to live there. He would just be risking losing money on the sale if he ever tries to sell it.  I also think he would be risking a lawsuit if he doesn't take steps to make sure the property is either lead-free, or use a certified installer to do the work and take care of the lead paint in the process.  What if there is lead and he rents it to someone with kids and the kids get lead poisoning?  It's a big liability issue and, speaking peronally, for the cost of a few hundred dollars more, it would be worth having the peace of mind.

 

I'm sorry he thinks it's socialism - unless protecting children and society at large from hazardous material is socialism.  He's free to poison himself if he wants, but not someone else.  I'd think we are past the days of landlords being free to exploit renters in unsafe housing.

What were my thoughts about being on Breakdown Radio WELW

Quite a few have been asking well what did you think, do you think it went OK (being on Breakdown radio WELW 1330 am)? Some of you I have answered already but for the rest here's my take. Mike didn't have a long lead in, it was BAM right into my situation. I started of with a few stumbles but think I steadied myself enough. I listened to it a few times since then and think I did a better job of bridging thoughts.
The hosts, Mike & Josh, were challenging and were not completely one sided with me. They were balanced and honest. I am pretty harsh with criticism of myself and always think I could have done better but for the most part I believe it went quite well. I told my folks really though it's not how I think it went but how the audience perceived it. And judging from the positive feedback it was successful.
Mike as well Dov and I have been going back and forth on the trouble I find myself in with Euclid. They agree the laws Euclid has set forth are wrong and anti business but ultimately they think it's my fault for not researching or going along with the rules since they have been on the books. After thinking this over YES I concede they are right. As the saying goes buyer beware and I believe it can apply here. BUT you have to give me this, the first house I bought was in '93, you cannot even begin to compare then to now. There was NO need to really look into ordinances. In fact I paid to have the house inspected not really knowing back then what to look for. Euclid was no where to be found and so I bought my second house thinking things were the same.
The most important thing that I hope we don't lose sight of is this, America is in deep trouble friends. DEEP TROUBLE! Whether the rules were on the books and I didn't research them this is just wrong that any level of government can take that much control over someone's property. And two years of fighting this and trying to rally support from elected officials and the populace has really got me no where. Euclid keeps on coming and coming and coming with no let up. As I said on the show, a very simple explanation from Bill O'Reilly of what Socialism is - Socialism is when the government takes control over property and commerce. Thats what we need to keep in mind. Thats why we are attending the Tea Parties. Thats why people are protesting. Thats why you are seeing a resurgence of people looking at the Constitution. This problem I have with Euclid really involves all of us, whether you see it that way or not. IF they can come after me and demand entry or jail time some other city or our federal government can come after you.
And as Mike said this does give me a testimony not only when we reach conclusion which ever way it may go but also for warning people to look into the laws and don't take anything for granted.
This is not the America we use to know - no one is safe.

A Closer Look at the State of the Union 2010

Its been a week since the State of the Union Address but it is still very important to take a closer look at it. What I am worried about is that President Obama will tone down his positions and sound more of a moderate until after the elections, and the Tea Party and populist anger will subside or possibly abandon their cause and will be willing to give him and the Democratic party another chance. We can not let this happen, America can not afford a two term presidency from this man. We must unite and fight back against socialism on all levels.
I also wanted to be fair in my review and as unbiased as possible about the State of the Union Address so I did not read or view any commentaries. I was not able to watch the speech but did read it twice, line by line and slowly. The first time I did it seemed it was OK but there were a few red flags. The second time I read it the faults and inaccuracies really jumped out. I encourage you to read it.
So instead of giving yet another review of how good or bad it was I am going to hi-light paragraphs that showcase how much of a socialist, globalist and liar President Obama is. There is possibly other paragraphs or phrases you could pick out but these are the ones that bothered me the most.

But to create more of these clean energy jobs, we need more production, more efficiency, more incentives. And that means building a new generation of safe, clean nuclear power plants in this country. It means making tough decisions about opening new offshore areas for oil and gas development.
Red flag number 1! Don't believe him. CNN Sun August 3, 2008. "When I'm president, I intend to keep in place the moratorium here in Florida and around the country that prevents oil companies from drilling off Florida's coasts," Obama told reporters in Jacksonville in late June.
Obama campaigned against McCain with the opposite stance of opening up areas for oil exploration. Oil prices have been steadily rising once again. He has had a whole year to reverse the ban and hasn't done it. Now we are suppose to believe him?

Red Flag number 2 It means continued investment in advanced biofuels and clean coal technologies. And, yes, it means passing a comprehensive energy and climate bill with incentives that will finally make clean energy the profitable kind of energy in America

If this alludes to the Cap & Trade legislation be worried, very worried. A quote from Senator Voinovich ....if this would pass there would be pocket-numbing decreases in household incomes

Red Flag number 3.
Third, we need to export more of our goods. Because the more products we make and sell to other countries, the more jobs we support right here in America. So tonight, we set a new goal: We will double our exports over the next five years, an increase that will support 2 million jobs in America. To help meet this goal, we're launching a national export initiative that will help farmers and small businesses increase their exports, and reform export controls consistent with national security.

The first problem we have is what does America make that we can export? The other point is why are we so worried about exporting? Why not build it here and buy our own products? Why don't we rescind some of these trade deals that dump cheap and dangerous imports on our shores? You want to help farmers, stop food from entering made in China. This is nothing more than globalism!

And that's why we'll continue to shape a Doha trade agreement that opens global markets, and why we will strengthen our trade relations in Asia and with key partners like South Korea and Panama and Colombia.
Key partners like Panama and Colombia? Obama was against trade with Panama because of being known as a tax haven for corporations. In fact Obama cosponsored a bill with Sen. Carl Levin and Sen. Norm Coleman titled The Stop Tax Haven Abuse Act which has Panama listed.

WASHINGTON – Senior House Democrats drafting health care legislation are considering slapping an unspecified financial penalty on anyone who refuses to purchase affordable health insurance, a key committee chairman said Monday.

In addition, officials said Democrats are considering a new tax on certain health insurance benefits as one of numerous options to help pay for expanding coverage to the uninsured. No details on the tax were immediately available, and no final decisions were expected until next week at the earliest.
Alongside those efforts, financing Obama's plan to spread coverage more widely carries a price tag estimated at higher than $1 trillion over a decade.
Secretary of State Hillary (rotten) Clinton, who was a New York senator at the time as well as a presidential candidate, said a mandate was essential. At one point, she said she was open to garnisheeing the wages of anyone who refused to comply.

The Cleveland Tea Rally and my Chinese Experience

I decided to take a brief break from writing about Euclid and tell you about the Cleveland tea party rally and my Chinese restaurant experience though this story does go back to what I have been screaming about - Euclid and socialism. Hey I wish I could just write about happy things, its not my fault our waitress decided to tell us about her life and homeland that brought me back to that topic.
Anyway... I started a new account recently. Its on Paine Ave. in Cleveland. Across from it is an Asian Plaza that I have never been to before. I told mom about it and she replied I have been going there for years. Now I know how the kimchee, dim-sum, and other Asian delights end up in our fridge.
Just before heading to this new account in downtown Cleveland I decided to swing by the Tea Rally. My thoughts of this rally was another pompous display of cheer leading to get someone elected. Can you tell how disillusioned I am? How hard have I tried to organize an effort in my support against Euclid? Exactly, so call it pouting if you like but if people won't support my effort why should I support theirs? Yes yes yes I do realize this is about country first, just need to keep trying to wake people up I guess.
Minutes before taking off I quickly threw together a pamphlet hi-lighting Euclid's codes and fines keeping it very short and not even including my plight so people would read it. I wanted to hand these out at the rally since it was all about taxes and erosion of our rights, maybe someone from the crowd will join my battle.
Jeff and I got to the rally late, about the last 30 minutes. The crowd was of decent size with many signs and flags waving. My little pamphlet was well received except for one lady who just didn't get it. I almost wanted to escort her out of the rally. When I tried to explain to her what is going on she said angrily "Well they are trying to stop it from becoming another E. Cleveland." Lady, high taxes, regulations, government interference are all playing a large part of people fleeing Euclid. The more people flee, the more empty houses and the more values keep plummeting. Capeesh?
I did take a moment at the rally to step back and take it all in. The crowd of people was mixed, old, young, well dressed, jeans and piercings, some in costume, black, white, male, female. Quite a few had signs, some waving flags. The words of the speaker, the cheers, it was an event but the atmosphere was not festive. I realized how on the cusp we are to a real revolt. And as I was reflecting on this I actually felt my words may come true and soon if things don't change - some city hall is going to be hit by someone who is losing it all and cant take anymore. Not like Oklahoma City, an armed rebellion. I don't wish it but I almost feel its inevitable.
We left there to go to work but before starting I wanted to check out the Asian plaza to possibly get a bite to eat. It was quite an interesting experience. This is one time I didn't check if the products were made in China, I would of been disappointed if they weren't. The plaza isn't that large. Its anchored by Li Wah a Chinese restaurant and a Chinese grocery store. When you walk into the Chinese grocery store the odor hits you and it ain't pleasant. What a difference between this and an Italian food store with all those wonderful scents. I love trying different foods but there was a couple of items I don't think I could try. One is the duck tongues, quack, I mean yuck.
We then went to Li Wah to eat where we met the talkative little Chinese waitress. Jeff and I almost left when we asked another waitress if the Mandarin pork chops were filling. She said it was small. Small turned out to be small as in small pieces and but the serving was quite large. Mandarin pork chops are similar to sweet and sour pork except the sauce is not red and not as sweet.
Half way through our meal is when the talkative and friendly waitress, Young, walked by and commented on what we ordered. Oh you ordered the Mandarin pork chops that is my daughters favorite. It went from there to telling us that she came to the US in 1988 and the last time she went back home to China was in 1992. Jeff and I had little room to respond as she kept on talking. I stopped eating to listen and didn't want to interrupt her either. Both of us found what she had to say as very informative and interesting. She must of talked at least a good ten minutes.
Young went on to say how things have changed in China since 1992. Before people were trying their best to come to America as there was no opportunity to succeed in China. It was very hard to start a business. Back then you had to go to one office to register, another place to get a license. Very very difficult for businesses. Now they have relaxed their rules and it is easy to start a business. One of the few times I could get anything in I said it seems like China is becoming easier and less rules and America is becoming harder and more regulations. She said exactly! Her friends and family no longer hope to come here and they ask her to come home things are much different. Before hardly anyone had cars, just businesses or government, now people are buying cars and they are everywhere.
China is more free now, more tourists. American businesses have opened like McDonald's and KFC. When McDonald's first opened you couldn't even move it was so crowded. Everyone wanted to try it.
I asked her about Hong Kong if it was a problem that China took them over. She said not really. Before you needed a passport to go there, now we go freely back and forth, Hong Kong is built up and people love going there.
About education she had this to say. American students aren't as smart. My daughter needed to buy a calculator for math, in China we don't use them, we use pencil and paper. Our chidren are way more advanced. A Chinese child in the third grade comes here and knows everything already and should really be put into the sixth grade.
Young started laughing when she realized how she interrupted our meal and apologized. I said please don't apologize I enjoyed your talk immensely, I learned a lot and hope to talk with you again.
Now do you see how this ties in with Euclid and the Tea Rally? It just upsets me that America the land of the free for some reason wants to embrace socialism/communism that has failed miserably everywhere else. Wake up people.
I just marvel at my life, though I get tired and fed up and say thats it, it never fails to amaze me the connections that seem to cross my path that ties things together and makes me continue onward.

Even though I predicted way back in May '07 that McCain would win the GOP nomination and eventually lose to a Democrat I am still numb and sickened. I feel as bad or more so then when Clinton beat Bush Sr.. It was in the '92 election that the reality of socialism was rearing its ugly head here in America after the Reagan era of self responsibility. This election, socialism has made major inroads, and possibly inroads that may never be removed. I am just numb, can't say it enough.
I watch in disbelief the people who voted for Obama dancing and singing, celebrating with no inkling of what they just did. No clue of how they sold this country out. Not a bit of understanding of the change Obama can and may bring. They dance and celebrate in ignorance, its sad and upsetting to watch.
For what reason do they celebrate? Is it the fact Obama, now the leader of the free world, is for the murderous practice of abortion and even worse against the right to life act? Is that why they dance?
Is it because Obama snubbed American values but instead embraced the homosexual community? Or our founding fathers Christian beliefs and morals but instead aligned himself with radical preachers and teachers? Is it because we put back in power the Democratic party that gave us the scandal ridden Clintons, the Barney Franks, the Jesse Jackson's?
We elect a black man strictly because of his mannerisms, his looks, his charisma, the color of his skin, his fervent speeches but still most people don't know much about him. Can we say for certainty that Obama, who's father was Kenyan, is a natural born citizen and the constitution was upheld? Where is his substance? What has he accomplished besides winning public office?
Past presidents championed the cause of spreading democracy, Obama preaches more government is this why they celebrate? Obama's plans hinges on class-warfare with his tax ideas of taxing those who work hard and make more. Obama tells you you need him to spread the wealth because you can't make it on your own. Is this the true American spirit?
What message does this send the rest of the world when Obama preaches change and hope is coming to America. Is our homeland really that bad? Do we really need change or just less government? Is the world any safer with Obama as Commander in Chief?

Usually at election time I'm spending countless hours on the campaign trail for someone. But this year I am just so discouraged by not only what is happening in my personal life with Euclid, work etc... but also the general direction of Socialism that America is falling into. The last 7 years or so, is not the America I know or grew up in. Its disheartening to say the least. So I decided to join the Obama camp.

Hi Friends!
Maybe I shouldn't be writing anymore concerning my rental situation and let sleeping dogs lie, but I can't be for certain they are and things have changed once again and not for the better. Furthermore plenty of you have been repeatedly asking "Well what is going on with Euclid and your rentals?". I have received so much advice and feedback about my situation it is incredible. It made me feel good that that many were concerned or is it because you find yourself in a similar position? Some who wrote or approached me I wasn't even aware they knew. For instance I received a letter in the mail in support of my stance. This is part of that letter: "Mr. Masci, You speak for many of us. ......how landlords are being bilked. ...... It's one thing to enforce housing laws, but it's another thing to hammer the good landlords while the city refuses to enforce the laws against the bad." EXACTLY!
So here is my update. My friend/tenant living at the Crystal residence told me in the beginning of July he is moving. The reason? He wants out of Euclid. After I sent out the initial email about my situation, Euclid immediately issued that bogus violation for debris, leaves, tree limbs. I brought on separate occasions friends with me as witnesses to see how nice the yard looks. I met with my friend/tenant and the councilman a few days after receiving it, even the councilman agreed it had to be a mistake. My tenants words were "Now I am insulted!" Who wouldn't be? The man hired a landscaping service to maintain the place. And who wouldn't be upset with mandatory inside inspections? So this 1000 pound gorilla called Euclid has pounded on his chest to show who's boss and chased out the kind of resident they hope to attract. Someone older who is not a burden, maintains his place, and works.
I don't blame him for wanting out. Taxes and utilities are higher in Cuyahoga County and now the city wants to start snooping around bothering people. When he moved in he said he just wants to be left alone.
As for the window violation, which I was well aware of way before and promised my friend/tenant that as soon as I was financially able they would be replaced. Now for sure the windows will not be replaced by August thirty first which Euclid is demanding, with no tenant as of July twenty six there is also no income.
Concerning the Priday residence my friend/tenant who said he would be out sometime this summer, possibly August has still not started packing. I had to, under threat, report this to Euclid otherwise they wanted their fee of $200 and an inside inspection. What was Euclid's reply when I said he should be out by August? OK, we will stop out to make sure he has left by August first as you told us he would be. Geee there is so many people wanting to move into Euclid I can understand the need for another empty house. Upon my last count there was 12 on Priday and 10 on Crystal. One has sold on Priday so that is down to 11 unless Euclid chases my tenant out before he is actually ready, and Crystal with my tenant leaving is now up to 12. Wouldn't you think that with all those empty houses Euclid would of at least tried to send an apology to the renter in Crystal and try to convince him to stay? I know the councilman said we don't need any more empty
houses in Euclid. But did he call back as promised? Did he meet with my friend/tenant? NOPE!
Back to the friend/tenant in Priday. Someone who has been a dream tenant, someone who has lived in the same house for nine years, someone I can drop in on anytime, there is no way I am going to start pestering the man to set a date when he is leaving as Euclid wants me to. When he leaves, he leaves. He told me he is and thats good enough for me. Again, does Euclid really need another empty house? And if by chance Euclid does decide to snoop at Priday, don't write a violation for the window on the side. I know it needs painting, I just scraped it to bare wood so I can paint it.
What Euclid needs to do is get rid of the broad bush they use to paint everything and instead use a sharpened pencil to pinpoint problem houses, just not landlords. You don't harass or make it impossible for people to invest and bring new life to the city. People are fleeing from this over burdensome government. Its just not because of white flight. My one tenant is black and I would take another fifty like him anytime. Its the big brother government I am fleeing from. Call it a freedom flight. And I know ignornace is no excuse for breaking laws but if Euclid would of been doing their job and informed me of these over intrusive laws I would not of bought my second house in the city. In '93 when I bought the first place no one came over to inspect, no one bothered me but suddenly now they have to.

Mr. Masci,

Please feel free to communicate with your friends, blogs and acquaintances however you see fit, as my commentary is not needed nor will it be given. Please understand that these ramblings, accusations and mis-statements will not influence the enforcement of housing and rental codes in Euclid. You have various legal opportunities to pursue if in fact you feel you are being treated unfairly. The Law and Housing Departments have gone out of their way to accommodate your "special circumstances" but it just never seems to be enough for you. I am confident that if your case was to get that far, the Judge would treat you fairly as well. We are simply requesting that you follow the law and maintain your properties according to the ordinances of the city of Euclid.

I refuse to allow housing stock in Euclid, especially during these times, to be compromised by homeowners, tenants, and landlords who refuse to take care of their properties. That includes you.

Carey's rental problems with the city of Euclid, Ohio

Please read this and send it on to all your contacts, post it on your blogs, help me get this out as it will benefit you also. I don't particularly care for how it is written as I had little time to edit and change the tone but it is still vitally important to get this out there. Let me explain what is going on.
I received a letter from the city of Euclid, Ohio concerning the two rentals I own. I was completely shocked when I read it. The letter was written on May second, received on May third and their terms were to be met by May sixteenth.
What Euclid wants is $200.00 each property for the initial registration and a renewal fee of $75.00 per year with required annual inspections. How many of you have $400.00 at your disposal to hand out to the city?
I am just infuriated with the city of Euclid at their audacity to make such demands with such a short notice. This is nothing more than them wanting more money to spend as they see fit. You can not justify this request. I pay property tax and income tax and now another fee? All cities, even the council man I met with agreed, have drive by inspections. If a property looks neglected from the outside the property owner can be cited and an inspection may be issued. Not only is annual inspections an invasion of my renters privacy but it gets worse. They also demand social security numbers of my tenants. Friends we need to start fighting back at this kind of bureaucracy. First its rental units then it will be home owners with a fee called a residency permit to be allowed to live in your house.
What is the penalty if I don't meet these demands? A fine of up to $1,000.00 and up to 6 months imprisonment. For what? Its my houses what crime have I committed?
Please read and pass on I am hoping this will get into the right hands and a large case will be brought against this city. And if you have caved in to similar demands shame on you!

This letter is in conclusion to our conversation we had on Monday May 12Th at 4PM.
First I would like to thank you for your prompt call and also for taking the time to look at my properties. As for our conversation I was disappointed that I did not make the most of the opportunity I had. You had made your point and steam rolled right over my situation that still exists, lack of money. Your statements of "we could charge you $800.00" and "pay they don't play games" is not what I expected.
This position I find myself in is new to me. My credit rating is very high and I have always paid my bills on time. I don't believe its impossible to make an exception to help someone who has invested in the city. Someone is in a bind the city should do more than just threaten them with a huge fine and jail time. What is Euclid trying to accomplish if someone doesn't have the money? Force them to sell or go bankrupt? Its a real shame that someone who is self employed running a small business decides to invest in his future by buying houses and the city demands more money above property tax and income tax. As you said according to law you are in your right to do so, but does this still make it right?
This policy should be revisited. There is 10 empty houses on Priday Ave alone. The city of Euclid should be doing all they can to encourage investment. If I would of known of the added rental fee's I would not of purchased my houses here. There is plenty of others who feel the same way. I don't anticipate my situation staying the same. My plans for the future are to buy two more houses. Knowing what I now know unless Euclid changes its policy my next two houses won't be in Euclid.
Think of what I could do with that $400.00 the city is demanding. Make a few necessary improvements, even if its one window or pay for my house insurance just to name a few things. Instead the city takes it.
Your solution of raising the rent is not how I do business. By keeping the rent low I had secured a good tenant for over 9 years that gave me no problems. The government whether local, state or federal can't keep taxing and adding fees then tell the public raise your prices. This is driving down the value of the dollar even further. Is anyone ever ahead with this game?
As for the current situation things have changed. The tenant living in Priday will be leaving in July. He has given me his notice. So I will not register it as a rental. I have about 2 months to decide if I will keep it or sell it. I am pretty sure of one thing as of now it won't be a rental.
You weren't willing to try and help with rental fees but maybe Euclid could help pay my house insurance. I am enclosing it so you know I wasn't playing games. Again its a real shame living in America someone falls on hard times is barely making it and the city government can take it all away.
