The day I held the meet n greet was a gift....

  Friends,
  How exciting! I told the Lake County GOP, at least a year ago, the key to this election is not what is going on in Washington as much as what is going on in our neighboring county Cuyahoga. They have run that county so far into the ground they are now discussing regionalism which is nothing more than the Socialist policy of spreading the wealth or in better terms spreading the debt and corruption.

  The day I held a meet and greet, Sept. 16, for Bob Murphy, candidate for county commissioner, was a real gift from the Cleveland Plain Dealer. I had no idea what was going to be run. Most of the paper was devoted to the corruption of Dimora and Russo and the rest of Cuyahoga. And what was in the middle pages? A photo of current County Commissioner Dan Troy with Dimora and Russo. How lovely.

  Read the invite I sent out for the meet and greet I held for Bob Murphy. Turn out was OK considering the day it was held there was a monsoon.

            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  Friends and Neighbors,
  Thank you for coming today. It shows you are as concerned as I am with what is going on in our country, whether it's nationally or locally.
  I have been involved with many campaigns throughout the years, mostly state representatives, senators and presidential. A lot of people volunteer for those races as they are high profile and exciting. But there are other elected positions as important or more so than just those, with exception the presidential.
  What is the role of commissioner?
  The Board of Lake County Commissioners sets the administrative policy for county government. While the Commissioners have no power to initiate legislation, they do exercise powers granted to them by the Ohio General Assembly through state law.
 The Commissioners are responsible for the appropriations of the county tax revenues through the adoption of the annual county budget. The budget includes appropriations for the numerous county offices, including those offices headed by other elected officials. The Commissioners have the power to levy taxes and to approve the placement of tax levies and bond issues on the ballot for consideration by county voters. The Commissioners also administer all federal grant monies.
 The Commissioners hold title to all county owned property and are responsible for the upkeep. By law, they must provide office space for all county offices. They must build the facilities necessary to house various offices such as the Courtrooms, the Jail, Engineer's facilities and parking. The Commissioners award all contracts for purchase and construction projects. (taken from Lake County Ohio Commissioners Site)
  As you can see the role of commissioner is one of much importance. With all the corruption that is going on in Cuyahoga County, which I am positive will spill over into Lake County, it is imperative we elect morally and fiscally responsible officials. I believe Bob Murphy is such a person.
So what can you do?
The basics, which so many overlook.  Make phone calls, put up yard signs, and pass out flyer's.
But by far the most effective is simply telling a friend - VOTE FOR BOB MURPHY!
Together we can keep out Cuyahoga thinking and keep Lake County - Lake County!
Mafia Cleveland Style
Well Friends,
If you like Mafia movies, corruption, bribes, intimidations, high drama and wish you would of been around during the height of Cleveland's Mafia in the 20's and all the way up into the 70's, well you get your chance to experience it.
Even though the rat a tat tat of a tommy gun and the big black Lincolns and Cadilacs are missing, the rest of the story is pretty much the same.
I keep my ear to the ground and some of the things I heard, I can't write about here. The mob was never completely cleansed from America. And whats going on in Cleveland proves it. It just goes by a different name other than Mafia, they are now called Democrats. Mike Trivison, local talk radio host on WTAM, said, What is going on in Cleveland has set back the city at least 25 years!
If justice will prevail it will all come out and people will be behind bars for a long time. If not, these crooks will be out in no time, running for public office again and the people will vote them back in, just because they are Democrats and Cleveland is just about all Democratic. How absurd, but true.
Seven Candidates - Macko and Hocevar
   I hear a lot of complaints about our leaders and elected officials. And I keep telling people NOT all are thieving liars. You need to attend the different functions, you need to meet the candidates face to face to find out. Here are a few that I endorse.
    It was hard to narrow it down of whom to endorse as I have met many fine qualified people. So this is my short list of seven candidates that I believe are honest, have integrity, still believe in America and that can make a difference. Most of these candidates have never held office before. I call this the year of the businessman/non-politician.
1. Dave Macko candidate for State Rep of the 17Th (Bentleyville, Brecksville, Broadview Hts., Chagrin Falls, Chagrin Falls Township, Glenwillow, Hunting Valley, Indepenence, Lyndhurst, Mayfield, Moreland Hills, Oakwood, Pepper Pike, Seven Hills, Solon, Valey View, Walton Hills)
  Dave Macko is the only non-Republican on my list. I always said party doesn't matter as much as the invidual. But I usually vote and endorse Republicans because of their core beliefs. I have never been able to for any Democrat as their philosophy is so un-American and immoral its impossible to do so.
   About Dave Macko, I may not agree with him on everything but on the things that I do, I strongly agree with him. I like to call Dave Macko "The Wrecking Ball". That's how I see his approach to our government. Dave wants to dismantle every unconstitutional law and department and just do away with it. He is pro-life and goes against the Libertarian platform of pro-choice. Dave is also highly in favor of the right to keep and bear arms. Its unfortunate and wrong that Dave Macko didn't receive the endorsement from either the pro-life or pro-gun groups. The memberships of clubs, associations and organizations that Dave belongs to is way to lengthy to list. Its impressive.
   Dave Macko is probably the most misunderstood candidate. The biggest reason is, Dave doesn't have very good bedside manners. If he were a doctor I could see him going into a patients room and saying Go home now and get things in order, you will be dead in a week, goodbye. And that's Dave's approach towards where America is at. He doesn't have time to play games and say things you want to hear, he comes at you with the truth. America is on life support - period.
  Dave Macko promises:
 "I will never vote to increase taxes or fees or to impose new taxes or fees or to diminish the liberties of any innocent person. I will always keep my oath to defend the Constitutions for the United States and Ohio. I will always strive to do what is best for my constituents and the people of Ohio."
   I believe Dave will do what he says, he is firm in his beliefs and disciplined enough not to compromise his values. If you really want to send a message, shake things up, and restore individual freedom vote - Macko.
                       http://www.mackoforliberty.com/
  2. Tony Hocevar candidate State Rep of the 7Th (Euclid, Cleveland's Collinwood area, Richmond Heights and South Euclid)
   I always look for honesty and passion in an individual, Tony Hocevar has both. When I first met Tony over dinner and told him some of my concerns, he told me straight out, Carey I don't think I can help you, I may not be the man for you. That was a breath of fresh air. So many times politicians promise everything that you know its impossible or just a flat out lie to get your vote. Not with Tony, he knows he weaknesses and his strengths.
   Tony Hocevar recently received an endorsement from the Association of Builders and Contractors of Ohio (ABC of Ohio) which says a lot because his opponent in the race is incumbent Ken Yuko who comes from an organizing role background with a local labor union.
   Tony Hocevar stated, “I am extremely honored and humbled by the confidence ABC has shown in my abilities to support the mission of Ohio’s workers and contractors. I have worked in the construction industry for the great majority of my life. I understand the struggles and challenges workers and owners face day to day. I will continue promoting the principles of open competition, free enterprise, lower taxes, worker’s rights and responsible government regulation. Together, we will restore an environment of job growth in Ohio, helping our families and communities prosper. Thank you ABC of Ohio!”
“We must divest ourselves of the status quos in county and state politics and elect fresh faces who realistically work for and understand the grassroots attitude of our communities. Who knows the breadth of Cuyahoga County’s corruption web? Let’s remove every last vestige of deceit in the state! I will be fair and honest in my role as the next State Representative for eastern Cuyahoga County, not hiding myself among the politicians, lobbyists and lawyers.”
  I never take notes, I write strictly from memory and I will never forget Tony's speech at the Euclid Tea Party.  He just made you feel proud and hopeful for the future. This is one quote:
  "People want to come to America not because what it was, not because what it is, but because what it can be."
  And that's why he is running for state representative, he has a vision for the future.
   People tell me all the time but what can I do? Simple - Get Involved!
  With modern technology such as cell phones and the Internet its very easy to do so. Contact these candidates and ask for voter lists and make calls on their behalf, blast out emails in their support, post this message and others on different forums and blogs and donate. But the easiest thing you can do is simply tell a friend, vote for.....
   Even if you live in another state and don't like your candidates, then help us here in NE Ohio, we need it!
We are at a serious crossroad my friends! Remember what Euclid did to me?
                                                        Carey Masci
As John Kasich candidate for Ohio governor said at the
Lake County Republican Convention in August 2009.
   "You have one more chance to get this right and that's it!"
     Get involved friends please get involved before its really to late!
A few recent replies to my emails.
Concerning: DADT: Reply from Senator Sherrod Brown
I am wondering how honest he is being about how much it is costing to keep the "don't ask don't tell policy". Why would it cost that much anyway? Furthermore, I don't believe he is so concerned about money being spent. You know his voting record. And also, it's not about what "he supports". He is supposed to vote the way the majority of the people want him to vote. I hope the majority still don't want gays openly serving in our military. It's a different story when a gay is parading around and proud to be a pervert on the streets in our country. That's still horrifying enough for many people, but in the military it would be more of a mental strain/drain on all personnel (gay and otherwise) which could threaten lives. Military people need to be focused and on top of their game and not have their attention distracted with openly gay issues. It seems like they would have an additional war going on with each other.
Cindy R.
Something that troubles me about it is that since the enemy troops are particularly hateful toward us infidels and especially torturous toward gays, I think it will make it much harder for the heterosexual soldiers if they are captured. Just my opinion. - Dawn
And from John in Maine commenting on "What we are putting up with in Ohio"
Entering Maine on I95 is a large sign, "Welcome To Maine, The Way Life Should Be".
I'd like to shove that sign right up the xxxxx who took our tax many to make it.
What a joke, it should read "Welcome To TAXACHUUSE".
A big welfare state here, tax & spend.
This is what we are dealing with in Ohio
Friends,
This is what we are dealing with in Ohio - A MAD MAN!
Our Governor is becoming unraveled. He's losing it.
Governor Strickland once said in a speech about the virtues of living in Ohio
"...a state where you can fly, swim, hike or run to your hearts content."
 OH that's just marvelous, it does wonders for Ohio's tourism industry.  No where else but in Ohio can you do those things.
Watch this clip and look at his eyes. Always look at a persons eyes. Strickland's eyes are mean and angry. They scare me.
Friends if ever in Ohio, please call me so together we can fly, swim, hike or run to our hearts content.  We will have fun!
DADT: Reply from Senator Sherrod Brown
Hey Gang,
The pressure is on to repeal the military's Don't Ask - Don't Tell (DADT). The way the queers parade around and think they are doing some great act maybe the new policy will be Show and Tell.
Anyway back in June I wrote to both of my senators. Sen. Voinovichs reply was well... a politicians reply, he will keep my views in mind. Big deal. Sen. Browns I wasn't thrilled with either. At least with Voinovichs reply I received a nice letter in the mail, Brown sent an email. Both need to be shipped to Siberia or San Francisco.
In my opinion its disgusting that queers could serve openly while defending my country. Besides protecting this great nation our armed services also molds boys into men, this is not a place for social experiments. America has the best military in the world why interfere and change things?
CKM
Dear Mr. Masci:
Thank you for contacting me to express your support for the Defense Department’s current policy banning gay and lesbian personnel from serving openly.
The Military Readiness Enhancement Act, currently pending before Congress, would repeal the military’s "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" policy concerning homosexuality in the Armed Forces. A recent GAO report determined that the current policy has cost the government over $200 million to implement and resulted in the discharge of nearly 10,000 soldiers, hundreds of whom have critical skills for the war on terror, including over 300 linguists with skills in languages such as Arabic and Korean.
The strain on our military personnel is one of the key national security challenges facing the United States today. Ending discrimination against gay and lesbian personnel would not only be consistent with our nation's commitment to inclusiveness, it would strengthen our military by retaining valuable service members who are willing to serve and have skills needed to fight the war on terror.
In January of 2010, our nation's top military commander, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen, stated his strong support for ending the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. At the same time, Secretary Robert Gates announced that the Department of Defense would study the "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" policy for one-year, and then provide recommendations to the President on repealing this policy. According to Gates, the focus is no longer on whether the policy should be repealed, but how the Pentagon will implement the change.
Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Colin Powell has also announced his support for repeal. General Powell stated that "in the almost 17 years since the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ legislation was passed, attitudes and circumstances have changed. I fully support the new approach presented to the Senate Armed Services Committee this week by Secretary of Defense Gates and Admiral Mullen."
As the Senate examines this issue in the coming year, I will certainly keep your views in mind. Thank you again for getting in touch with me.
Sincerely,
Sherrod Brown
United States Senator
From Carey's archives - Tuesday, October 28, 2008
When I initially wrote Carey's top ten reasons why Obama would make a good president back in 2008 before the election, the GOP Boys in Washington were not to pleased with it being on the Lake GOP site before the McCain rally held in Mentor so they removed it. (I think that was a run on sentence?)
Some were especially unhappy about reason Number 8 The NBA championship series will be declared a holiday. But how far off was I? I don't think to terribly off.
If you are into sports and especially NCAA basketball you know they have asked Obama his choice for the brackets the last two years. Now I don't ever remember any president being asked about choosing the winners for basketball before, is it because he is black? Throwing out the first pitch at a ball game, of course, that's very American and ALL presidents do that. Same with picking the winner of the Super Bowl. Basketball though?
But wait it gets better. I went to the store and what did I see? Well look at the photo I enclosed. I guess in a way I have been vindicated.
OH beyond the basketball look at the list and see how far off or right on I was, remember this was before he got elected.
Anybody care to borrow my crystal ball?
When I write I like to use many different ways to make a point, sometimes I am ultra serious, other times just very silly and humorous. So you need to look beyond my humor in this top ten list to reveal the sad truths and shortcomings of Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden. What's more amazing is I didn't have to dig to deep to come up with this list, I listened very closely and used their own rhetoric and their own gaffs.
Carey's top ten reasons why Obama would make a good president
10. He is gifted at community service
9. He is pro-choice which means fewer Democrats in the future
8. The NBA championship series will be declared a holiday
7. We will be healthier from riding our bikes as Obama won't drill for oil
6. All of us will feel more patriotic when we have to pay more in taxes
5. He will add 7 more states to make his statement of being in 57 states true
4. Obama will make more people want to cling to guns and religion
3. We will have daily gaffs from Vice President Biden to laugh at and make us forget how miserable we are
2. Lazy people won't have to work as Obama will spread the wealth.
And the number one reason why Obama would make a good president is....
He will hand out tire gauges to make sure our tires are properly inflated!
Democratic strategy for the stretch run.
Friends,
Here is the Democratic strategy for the stretch run. If you have been following my writings then you have heard some of this before. I truly believe they will be using these.
Number one on the list will be the BLAME GAME!
...using sports as an analogy. In sports there is a strategy to run the same play over and over until the opposing team stops it. The Democrats are using this exact strategy. They are getting a lot of mileage out of blaming President Bush. In late July Obama gave a speech saying this very thing. Until Republicans counter it OR the public says enough, the Dems will continue on and slyly slip it in where ever they can.
How else have they used Blame Bush? They are using it to take our minds off the fact they will be raising taxes and instead keep repeating the Bush Tax cuts are costing the US billions.
Bush tax cuts are not costing the US billions, the Dems spending is. The Repubs have to remind everyone that when the Dems were put in power in 2006 is when the great economic slide started.
Number two: The Dems have an interesting way of garnering support and votes. They use a laser and target specific groups. It doesn't matter that they contradict themselves as long as they say the right things to the group they are addressing. One of their target groups is Hispanics. And whether its good for America or not they will stand up for illegals. If the Dems can get amnesty for the illegals and get them registered they will vote Democratic. But even if the Dems fail with their amnesty plan they will still have the Hispanic support for trying. Hispanics alone won't win the election but that is an important block to keep.
Number three: Time. The Dems can't run on job creation. They can't run on health-care as most Americans have turned against it. They can't run on success in Iraq, the surge was responsible. There is not much they can run on other then - TIME. They will be making the pitch - please don't give up on us now, Bush had 8 years, our plans need time to work and they will. The Repubs need to counter with, the Dems have had control of Congress since 2006 with two of those years with a Democratic president at the helm, we do not have the luxury of giving Dems any more time, America is on life support, we can not take a chance and waste any more time.
Lastly this is not as much as a strategy as an observation, (unless there is market manipulation going on), fluctuations in oil prices that could send gas prices spiraling downward. This plays heavily into the favor of Dems. Our economy thrives on cheap oil. If oil stays cheap till the election and things start to improve people will forget, as they always do, of how bad things were and think well the economy is starting to rebound. The Repubs must counter that this is only short term because Obama won't allow drilling that will not only raise oil prices once again but also will cost THOUSANDS of jobs.
Don't be surprised when you hear these.
Carey Masci
